About Us
We are here to serve the community of the Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley
We are a non-profit community interest company with a charitable heart, relying heavily on our hero volunteers, our suppliers and an amazing team who help us with the mammoth task in the kitchen such as cleaning, preparing food and dishing up and of course our drivers who are the comforting face to our invaluable service.
Our Story
Dean Forest Kitchen was started in July 2022 by a group of people who saw the need for a Meals on Wheels service in the Forest of Dean area. We were concerned about the growing population of people isolated in their own homes and unable to feed themselves effectively. We felt there was more of a need to interact with people rather than just dropping a meal. It was also important to us for our growing customer base to have a freshly cooked nutritious hot meal delivered and served with some conversation. Our team starts early in the morning to cook up the fresh meals to box up ready for the drivers to collect and take out on delivery routes. The driver will spend time talking to their customers and providing any feedback if they have any worries. Any concerns and worries, we can feedback to family members, social services, or any other organisation involved with their care. We feel that our service helps keep our customers independent in their own homes.
